Experimental Aircraft Association EAA

For years, Flabob was a lively bed of activity for the design, manufacture and flying of experimental aircraft. Flabob is the site of the first chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

The first chapter gathering was held in 1953, when Ray Stits and a number of close friends and fellow homebuilding enthusiasts met at Flabob Airport. Today, there are nearly one thousand active local EAA and divisional chapters and squadrons all over the world carrying on the tradition of recreational aviation.

The EAA is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds. The EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, war birds, aerobatic aircraft, ultra lights, helicopters and contemporary manufactured aircraft. EAA is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
